Tour information for download: The approximately 35 km long Sunday round tour leads through the hilly end moraine landscape north of Uelzen. You cycle through forests, fields, and meadows. Observe water birds, enjoy the tranquility of a church, or take a delicious break at the courtyard café.
Starting from the monastery village of Ebstorf, head east through the picturesque Bobenwald. And then continue through the villages to the Jastorfer See. It is home to water birds such as cormorants, grey herons, and greylag geese. There is an observation tower on the north shore, from where you can observe the animals - preferably with binoculars. An information board in the tower provides more information about the birds and the lake.
Passing the "Heliand Cross" and a beautiful rest area overlooking the Ilmenau Valley, the tour leads to Tätendorf-Eppensen. In the fruit barn, regional and seasonal delicacies are served, such as freshly baked cake or apple juice from the orchard's own harvest.
Refreshed, you cycle to Barum. Here, Karsten Ellenberg grows his famous old potato varieties. The potatoes are purple, red, yellow, or blue and have a delicious, intense flavor. Ideal for a slightly different "Colorful Potato Salad". In Barum, it's worth taking a look at and into the St. Georg Church from the 11th/12th century. The freestanding bell tower dates back to the 17th century. Open daily from Easter to Harvest Festival from 9 am to 6 pm.
Via Vinstedt, you return to Ebstorf. Here, the medieval heath monastery in the idyllic Schwienautal awaits you with sacred art treasures and the faithful Ebstorf World Map from the 13th century.
