Description by the author

On our hike, we come to the Obermainische Bruchschollenland, which is framed by the Franconian Jura in the west, the towering Franconian Forest in the northeast and the foothills of the Fichtelgebirge in the east. The name is derived from its geological formation. Sediments (deposits) or clods of red sandstone, shell limestone, Keuper and other sandy, calcareous and clayey rocks were originally deposited on top of each other. Forces from the earth's interior shifted these clods against each other and in some cases positioned them vertically. This resulted in a wide variety of terrains. The erosion of the Main and its tributaries also contributed to the creation of a colorful mixture of different landscapes, i.e. a land of fault blocks. - According to Hans Nützel

We start our circular walk in the center of Seibelsdorf.

It can be assumed that the village was already settled around the year 800. It is certain that the parish once had an enormous extent and stretched from Feldbuch to Zeyern and Eila. In the upper part of the church village stands the mighty village oak, the Peace Oak, which was planted as a young tree in 1871 to commemorate the peace treaty. Around 1900, young men performed gymnastics in its shade according to the ideals of gymnastics father Jahn, and in 1920, the war memorial was erected on this spot by senior forest administrator Georg Zeller.

We walk along the footpath and cycle path in the direction of Kronach. When we reach Waldbuch, we turn left towards the composting facility and immerse ourselves in a wonderful, pristine landscape of hedgerows. On the slightly ascending path, we pass a side valley, extensive meadows and fields and, time and again, hedges in a variety of formations in the open, varied landscape. Finches, skylarks, yellowhammers, buzzards, red kites and other birds bear witness to the rich bird life in this landscape. As the altitude increases, the view of the surrounding countryside and into the distance becomes ever greater and more impressive. Before we reach the road (Seibelsdorf-Fischbach), a special highlight awaits us. It is a historical stone, the Centstein.

It is assumed that it once served as a stone signpost for carters and travelers. This version is supported by a geometric plan of the Fraisch district (border district) of the Seyboldsdorf office from 1750. It can also be seen that this stone, which was restored in 2005, stood on a historic old road and at the same time at a crossroads. This "High Road" led from Kronach along the high plateau to Stadtsteinach and Kulmbach and also formed the territorial border between the margraviate and the Bamberg Abbey.

We take the road briefly to the right, but immediately turn left again together with the Centstein path KC 63 and soon follow the field path to the left again for a while. Then we turn left again onto a natural field path, which leads us further uphill along hedges to the heights. Again and again, we look forward to the changing views of the hedgerows and the picturesque surrounding countryside. Zollbrunn, Gehülz and, in between, Ziegelerden with its church, owned by the church building association and visible from afar, greet us from the direction of Kronach. The priests of the Oblate monastery in Kronach provide pastoral care. Only its inhabitants are buried in Kronach. We turn left and continue straight ahead towards the Gössersdorf wind turbines.

At the very beginning, we see the relic of the last war above the field. On this high plateau of the Jura plateau in the Upper Main quarry land, there was once an "air guard", an observation point for the air traffic of the German Wehrmacht during the Second World War. Today, the hill is covered with a small pine forest.

With pleasant views, we come across a farm track. First, we enjoy the view to the right of the hamlets of Horlachen and Steibra on the hill. Then we follow the farm track for just under a kilometer, first flat and then slightly downhill, until we leave it in a sharp right-hand bend and climb up a dirt track to the heights. Once again there is an impressive view of the Franconian Line and the charming hedgerow landscape looking back. We continue along the field path. Our gaze rests on the Gössersdorf wind turbines, the extensive fields, Losau, Rugendorf in the valley and the hamlet of Mittelberg on the left at the top. On the open area near the summit, we recognize the launch site for hang-gliders. We cross a path lined with deciduous trees and take a second, equally pleasant path towards the hamlet of Eisenwind. But even before that, we follow the field track downhill into the "Seigrund" (=Saugrund, from Rugendorf to Großvichtach), which the locals call this because pigs were once herded here.

We cross the B 303 and take the access road across the valley to the pretty village of Losau, a district of Rugendorf. Nearby, the Losau rock on the path to the rock spring in the Leite forest area is well worth seeing. After the inn, we turn left towards the sports field and soon leave the road on a natural path uphill to the edge of the forest. Before the forest takes us in, we once again enjoy the beautiful view of the landscape with its many hedges. Through young forest stands, the path goes uphill, quite steeply in places, to a forest road, which leads us to the left, then uphill again quite steeply until we come to a cross on the road coming from Mittelberg. We follow it downhill to the rest and parking areas at the edge of the forest, where we are once again greeted by a wonderful view of the beautiful hedgerow landscape and Seibelsdorf.

But shortly before this, we should not miss the detour (50 m) to the left to the Grünberg spring with the Kneipp facility, where we can tread water and take an arm bath (not one after the other!). If we now follow the little-used, narrow road downhill, we soon come back to our starting point in the center of Seibelsdorf with the stately rectory with the half-timbered St. Andrew's crosses.

We also notice the spacious, bright and friendly-looking Protestant parish church of St. Andrew with its 56 m high church tower. In contrast, its predecessor, the old stone church, known as St. Andrew's Church, was too narrow and dark. It probably had a predecessor, a small wooden church.
