It was the first Spanish neighborhood in America. It began as a neighborhood of poor people linked to maritime traffic and markets. The area was of economic importance because the products arrived through the primitive port and to this is added the presence of the government of the colony in the southern part of the neighborhood, a process that continued for several centuries. Starting near Colón Street and including Vicente Celestino Duarte Street until approaching Las Atarazanas Street we can observe the set of houses built in the sixteenth century and recreate in our imagination that time.
