The Geriatric Residence of Maó was built in 1738 by the English, who wanted to create a new charitable hospital on Cós de Gràcia street, with an oratory dedicated to the Good Shepherd. This building was maintained by money from inheritances and alms. This building was already constructed over a medieval hospital that hosted sick and needy people.
