The old Military Hospital of the Navy in Cartagena, called the Royal Hospital of Antiguones until 1801, is an old hospital of the Spanish Navy located in the old town of Cartagena, which currently houses the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the Polytechnic University.
The construction works for the hospital began on July 1, 1749, under the direction of the military engineer from Baguena, Sebastián Feringán, and lasted until 1762. The inauguration took place on May 20 of that year, with the raguseo Mateo Vodopich acting as director due to Feringán's death days earlier. The 8,924,863 reales that the building cost were assumed by the Crown.[1][2]
