The Siege of Lleida was one of the episodes of the War of the Spanish Succession that occurred on October 12, 1707.
Anticipating the death of Charles II of Spain without heirs, the main European powers proposed the elector prince of Bavaria as the heir, leading to the subsequent division of possessions among these powers. But he dies, and Charles II in his last will written before his death names Philip of Anjou as his successor. Philip enters Barcelona on October 2, and the Cortes finally close on January 14, 1702, with the oath of the Catalan constitutions by the King.
