On April 24, the Council of the Principality raised an army of 300 knights with 100 lances and a thousand infantry commanded by Hug Roger III of Pallars Sobirà to fight the peasants, and the queen immediately declared it illegal, while the deputies and the Council prohibited the publication of the royal call. The local authorities had to act since both authorities were legitimate but the orders were contradictory, and the first attacks came from the remença troops of Francesc de Verntallat at Castellfollit de la Roca in 1462, while the rebels besieged the Força Vella of Girona, where Joana Enríquez and Prince Ferran had taken refuge.
