Le 24 avril, le Conseil du Principat a levé une armée de 300 chevaliers avec 100 lances et un millier d'enfants commandée par Hug Roger III de Pallars Sobirà pour combattre les paysans, et la reine a immédiatement décrété son illégalité, tandis que les députés et le Conseil ont interdit la publication de l'appel royal. Les autorités locales disaient donc que les deux autorités étaient légitimes mais que les ordres étaient contradictoires et les premiers attaques furent des troupes remences de Francesc de Verntallat à Castellfollit de la Roca en 1462, tandis que les insurgés assiégeaient la Força Vella de Gérone, où s'étaient réfugiés Joana Enríquez et le prince Ferran.
