Il 24 aprile, il Consiglio del Principato sollevò un'armata di 300 cavalieri con 100 lance e circa mille fanti comandata da Hug Roger III di Pallars Sobirà per combattere i contadini, e la regina dichiarò immediatamente la sua illegalità, mentre i deputati e il Consiglio vietarono la pubblicazione del decreto reale. Le autorità locali affermarono dunque che entrambe le autorità erano legittime, ma gli ordini erano contraddittori e i primi attacchi furono delle truppe remences di Francesc de Verntallat a Castellfollit de la Roca nel 1462, mentre i ribelli assediavano la Força Vella di Girona, dove si erano rifugiati Joana Enríquez e il principe Ferran.
