With a monumental facade of cut lines and volumes , the Iglesia de la Encarnación rises above the rest of the buildings in Olvera .
The church is a neoclassical construction, commissioned by the Dukes of Osuna at the end of the 18th century and completed in 1843, following the demolition in 1822 of the old church of the same name.
The top of the facade is closed with the clock. This is a characteristic element of the town hall , but it has none. Therefore a clock was built on the facade of the church in 1902. This element was paid for by the town hall.
The main altar is dedicated to the patron saint of Olvera, San José.
