The stately building of the Hospital del Cardenal Salazar in Cordoba has had several functions since its design. From an education center for poor children to an acute hospital.
Currently it houses the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Cordoba. It was designed in the 18th century by Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo. The imposing baroque facade gives way to the various rooms arranged around two arched courtyards , the main one of which has a beautiful marble fountain .
The main staircase leads to the first floor. The long corridors lead to small windows in which the names and dates of the residents of the former hospital are still engraved. Integrated into the complex is the Chapel of San Bartolomé , an example of Mudejar Gothic architecture.
