These gardens were inaugurated in 1830 . The name is a tribute to María Cristina de Borbón-Dos Sicilias, wife of Ferdinand VII.
Due to the 1929 Exhibition and the subsequent construction of Hotel Cristina and Hotel Alfonso
The gardens are combined in a classicist design, together with the varied vegetation, the pond with a clear regionalist affiliation, the beautiful pergola, the bust of Emilio Castelar, the promenade dedicated in 1981 to Vicente Aleixandre, Nobel Prize winner in Literature, and the bust by the poet Adriano del Valle from Seville, next to a small kiosk where until a few years ago there was a complete weather station that was often consulted by Sevillians.
