The aqueduct of Buc was used to channel water collected on the Saclay plateau in the south of Versailles to the ornamental fountains in the Park of Versailles, thereby improving the water supply of the palace gardens.
The aqueduct crosses the valley of the Bièvre in the municipality of Buc. The D 938 runs immediately alongside the aqueduct. The above-ground structure has a length of 580 m between its northern () and southern end (). It features 19 round arches that are 9 m wide and up to 21 m high. Its water flows in a channel that is 1 m wide and 1.9 m deep, covered with stone slabs.
