The Château de Betz is located in the commune of Betz-le-Château, in the Indre-et-Loire department. The castle has been listed as a historical monument since April 21, 1937.
Gilles de Betz, the first known lord, was undoubtedly the builder of the fortress. His family retained the lordship of Betz until 1503, the year of the marriage of Renée de Betz to François Couhé de Lusignan, who thus became the lord of Betz. The Lusignan family owned the land until the beginning of the 18th century.
