Mont de Marsan
Mont-de-Marsan is located in the French department of Landes (region of Aquitaine) and has a population of 29,489 (1999). The town is part of the Mont-de-Marsan arrondissement and is situated exactly where the rivers Midou and Douze converge into the Midouze. Despite the fact that the city is not large, it plays an important role in terms of administration. There are many public buildings from the 19th century, and these buildings are very well maintained. The town also has a horse racing track where various horse races are held each year. In these exciting horse races, called “course landaise,” one can see various riders (écateurs) jumping over cows.
