Elegant classical square (1738-52), arranged around the Opéra-Théâtre, the oldest opera house in France. The neo-Romanesque Rhenish Protestant Temple was built between 1901 and 1904, at the time of the German annexation, by architect Wahn, on the site of the Jardin d'Amour. It was inspired by Speyer Cathedral. In the evening, the illuminated chevet of the Temple Neuf is reflected in the Moselle, and is particularly romantic.
