Remodeled in 1516 by Augier d'Arcangues, the church of Saint Jean Baptiste is typical of the Basque region. Its carved wooden galleries and stained glass windows give this sumptuous structure a real cachet. The bell tower, listed as a Monument Historique since 1925, towers majestically over the village of Arcangues.
Its landscaped cemetery is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the Basque country, with its numerous discoidal steles and unique panorama of the Pyrenees mountain range. Pierre d'Arcangues and Luis Mariano, among others, are buried here.
