Nicknamed Berig's "Knochenheiler": a healer who has left his mark on the spirits. Famous for his undisputed gifts as a rebuilder, but also for his great generosity. He healed people and animals out of charity at a time and in a region where doctors were scarce. He died on 13 July 1850 in Bérig-Vintrange, and is buried in the municipal cemetery. His epitaph pays tribute to the great man he was.
