Overlooking the football field, this little-known fort is an annex to the citadel. Erected between 1850 and 1853, on a hill to the northwest of the city, it occupied a very important strategic position. During the siege of 1870-1871, its casemated bastions prohibited the enemy from approaching the square. The entrenched camp, set up at its feet, had given shelter to a thousand men for nine months.
The fort is open to the public during events (heritage days, etc.).
