Located in the heart of the old town, the Merchant's House dates back to the 18th century. It has a richly decorated and recently renovated pink sandstone façade. This House owes its name to its first owner, whose trade is suggested by the corner sculptures. All these clues suggest that the patron of the house was a merchant of spices and exotic foodstuffs who was to supply the court of King Stanislaus Leszczynski by importing them from overseas.
