Until the French Revolution, a chapter of canonesses was established in the City. A walk through the Chapter district allows the visitor to discover the 16th and 18th century canonical houses, with their colourful facades and the location of the former cloister. The plaques and coats of arms above the doors of each house recall the names of the last canonesses who lived there until the revolution.
Just a stone's throw away is part of the medieval enclosure erected in the 13th century in Vosges sandstone (75 m of ramparts and 3 towers). One of the towers houses the town's Historical and Archaeological Museum.
