Bastide of Villefranche-du-Queyran

The Queyran is a transitional area between the Landes forest and the Garonne plain. Founded by Edward I, Villefranche was established there in 1280, on the banks of the Ourbise. The bastide has a regular layout, with very dense buildings along the main street. A market hall, very old half-timbered houses, a 16th-century castle transformed in the 18th century, the village church from the 15th century (heavily modified), and the outlying church of Saint-Savin (listed as a historic monument), contribute to the interest of this village.
