The original church was rebuilt in 1840 because it was considered dangerous. The bell tower was rebuilt under Napoleon III, after a donation from the Viscount of Pontac. As a token of thanks, the commune had his coat of arms and those of his wife carved on the building. The Count still shows generosity for the restoration of the stained glass windows. One of them is surmounted by a drawing on a red background with stars reminiscent of the arms of Pontac. The four capitals are sealed into the wall of the presbytery where, like modillions, they serve as consoles for the cornice.
