Located at the entrance of the village, the German cemetery of Saint-Maurice, shelters 1.775 German dead and 14 dead of the German imperial and royal army. The cemetery was built in 1914. The war of position, the German offensive against Verdun in the spring of 1916 and the fighting from 1916 to 1918, caused heavy losses. After the war, the French military authorities expanded the cemetery. Between the two wars, the Volksbund took care of the gardening, planted trees and improved the stairs and terraces. In 1970, the wooden crosses were replaced by metal ones. Of the 402 dead in the mass grave, only twelve are known.
