Le Garde Champêtre

Our restaurant is inspired by the historic work of a countryside warden, protector of the rural environment

Monsieur Droze, Gyé-sur-Seine's last field warden, was a memorable person. When a swarm of bees was discovered, Monsieur Droze was called. Any infraction or deviation from communal laws, Monsieur Droze was called... At the opening of the Polisot dance hall, Monsieur Droze, gypsy on his beak, would jump on his bicycle, equipped with a megaphone he had adapted himself, and ride through the streets, spreading the news.

Gyé-sur-Seine's new Garde Champêtre is a restaurant powered by its 1 hectare organic farm. Meals are prepared "à la minute", using only the freshest ingredients. The main source of heat is an open fire.

Just like the country warden's function of the time, we hope to stimulate social interaction and community spirit. A children's playground, boules and badminton are available to the community, not just to restaurant guests.
