Situated on the Belgian and Luxembourg borders, the town of Longwy is renowned for its prestigious fortifications built by Vauban, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Longwy is also renowned for its expertise in the arts and crafts of earthenware and enamel, a ceramics industry that flourished in the 19th and 20th centuries. A fine collection of this production has graced the municipal museum since 1975; the richness and variety of these works will be showcased in the new Musée de Longwy-Bas in 2024.
