When the Royal Dijonval Manufactory was founded in 1646, Sedan, newly attached to France, became the first centre for the manufacture of fine sheets "Dutch style". For more than 300 years, Dijonval was a place of industrial work where thousands of men and women succeeded one another who made the greatness and fame of Sedan textiles. The buildings that still exist today, which are more reminiscent of a palace than a factory, are a superb example of 18th-century architecture. Only the façade and the inner courtyard can be seen. More information in the brochure "Let yourself be told Sedan". A guide to Dijonval, collection Itinéraires du Patrimoine, is on sale at the Tourist Office.
