To the south of Fléville and Exermont, the commune of Apremont boasts a German cemetery with 1,111 individual graves. This cemetery, created in November 1915 for those killed in the Argonne forest, is the only one to retain a large proportion of its burial plots in their original state. Here you'll find the grave and stele of Commandant Baron Von Müllenheim-Rechberg, commander of the 5th Battalion of Chasseurs, killed at Haute-Chevauchée on April 8, 1916. In the cemetery is the monument of the 27th Landwher Regiment. This military cemetery will become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023, along with the Funerary and Memorial Sites of the First World War (Western Front)
