On the Wervicq Mountain, in the park of the Château Dalle-Dumont, remains a German monument erected in 1915 on which one can see a nurse caring for a bedridden man. It reminds us that during the Great War, the occupying forces had set up a cemetery here adjacent to the "Lazarett" installed in the castle. The wounded soldiers in the area near Ypres were cared for there. In the 1920s, the German cemetery was moved a little further up the "Mountain" and today it houses the remains of 2,506 soldiers, including 8 Austro-Hungarians.
