The village of Chauzeix is a fine example of the peasant habitat of the Monédières massif, with its granite buildings, gables, redents and dry-stone enclosure walls. Among these features is the Cross of the English. It was so named because it was probably carved during English rule, but was more likely erected in the 16th-17th centuries. With its high-shafted column, it dominates the village fountain and pond.
