Built at the beginning of the 13th century, this castle was destroyed by the Swedes in 1633 during the Thirty Years' War. In 1705, the French thought of rebuilding it, but abandoned the project and, in 1778, the church tower was built with the materials of the castle... The population followed the example by taking massive amounts of stones for the construction of houses. The building was partially restored by the city of Schirmeck in 1969
