Let yourself be guided through a city with a remarkable architectural and landscape heritage from the source of the Boutonne river. CAPUT meaning "head" (source) so Chef, and VULTON, which over the years has become "Boutonne", it must be understood that the Boutonne river has its source in the heart of Chef-Boutonne!
The walk offers you several stages: the church of Notre-Dame which overlooks the whole old town, the castle of Javarzay, built in 1513 by François de Rochechouart and one of the most important in Poitou, its pond and its park (arboretum), the place Cail, the alleyways, the park of the town hall and its green theatre and the church of Saint-Chartier in Javarzay.
