The pond has a fish farming vocation, it is managed by the local fishing company.
Its name probably comes from a confusion between the word 'fée' and the word 'fie' which means spruce in Vosges patois.
On the bank of the pond, the granite of Valtin is at the origin of an acid soil favourable to a carpet of very fine grasses : the flexuous Canche, which gives the place a fairy-tale atmosphere.
Further on, this acidic soil will welcome a moorland with Callune and Blueberry.
