Ebersheim

Ebersheim is located in the heart of Alsace, in the Ried region a few kilometers north of Sélestat.

Walking or cycling through the village streets all year round, you can discover remarkable examples of protective niches on the gables and facades of houses, and even in the cladding of barns and tobacco drying sheds. There are over thirty of them.

They are either a cavity or a box affixed to the wall to house statues of the Holy Family, Saints and sometimes icons behind glass. Many of them feature statuettes of the Virgin Mary, while others depict the figures of Jesus, Saint Odile or Saint Anthony of Padua.
Originally, these pious niches were intended to protect against fire, which is easy to understand in a village with numerous barns and, above all, tobacco drying sheds. So keep your eyes peeled!

Discover the 18th-century church of Saint-Martin, listed as a historic monument on October 8, 1984.

Continue your walk around the Notre-Dame chapel before heading for the Goutte d'Eau interpretive trail, on the theme of water, with the aim of making it better respected and shared. A 3.5 km discovery trail for tourists and educators. Four interpretation panels will help you discover 4 sites of interest located on the outskirts of the village: Le Loch, l'Étang de pêche, Les prés irrigués and apporter de l'eau au moulin.

A few steps from this trail, plunge into history with a visit to the Moulin Kircher. Established in 1748 and still in operation, come and discover the secrets of traditional flour-making.
