6 km from Remiremont, the village of Saint-Amé owes its name to Saint Amé, a Columban monk who, with Saint Romaric, founded the Saint-Mont monastery in 620. This monastery, the cradle of the future Remiremont Abbey, is said to have been built on an ancient Gallo-Roman oppidum. Culminating at 675 m, the Saint-Mont offers a unique view of Remiremont and its valleys.
The commune is criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails leading to the Fossard forest, and includes a "tourisme et handicap" (tourism and disability) accredited trail near the Etang du Miroir, as well as an accredited fishing trail on the Cleurie river.
