At the foot of the Valentré Bridge (14th century), an emblematic monument of Cahors, this garden planted with vines echoes the wine of Cahors and its emblematic grape variety, the Malbec. It is the starting point of the Secret Gardens circuit, a route marked by bronze nails with an acanthus leaf that will take you to the heart of the city. The vineyard has been a founding element of Cahors? identity since the Gallo-Roman era. These vines planted on the banks of the Lot maintain a strong link with the river, evoking the Cahors wine trade which since the Middle Ages has taken the Lot and then the Garonne to reach the port of Bordeaux.
