The bust is the work of Rimbaud's brother-in-law and was inaugurated in 1901.
In 1914-1918 it was destroyed during the war . In 1927 it was replaced by a bust of Alphonse Colle. In 1942-44: melted down under the Vichy regime. In 1954: replaced by a bust of Dumont, based on that of Alphonse Colle.
Arthus Rimbaud was one of the greatest French poets and born in Charleville-Mézières.
