The Maison de la Nature , also called “L'Usine”, is a beautiful sustainable visitor centre , located at the bottom of the Corniche des Maures and close to the Villa Foncin. on the former railway line.
After the takeover by the municipality in 2005, the renovation of the former UTOM factory (household waste factory, active 1978–1999) started in 2022 under the architectural firm OH!SOM into an educational centre. It opened in June 2024.
The building has been awarded the BDM gold label (Bâtiment Durable Méditerranéen) twice.
The original mica-schist facade was preserved so that the building visually blends into the surrounding crystalline Maures environment.
It is a place for green encounters with an exhibition space, training courses, workshops, conferences, outdoor concerts and afternoon activities.
In the Maison des Saveurs there is a cafeteria/tea room with seasonal and regional products, surrounded by greenery.
