According to research by a Dutch archaeologist Janric van Rookhuijzen , the original name of the Parthenon on the Acropolis would not refer to the building that we now call the Parthenon. The building that was originally called the Parthenon was the building where the kareathids belong to. Parthenon means as much as a virgin house. That virgin house was also the original temple of Athena. This building that we now know as the Pathenon was called the Great Temple of Athena.
