On the so-called Kanounenhiwwel in the city of Luxembourg stands the National Monument "Luxemburger Solidarität". It was erected in memory of the dead of the Second World War and to commemorate the resistance and solidarity of the Luxembourg people against the German occupation. The paved courtyard symbolizes the prisons, concentration camps, and barracks. A simple unhewn stone in the chapel represents the victims of the war. An eternal flame burns in front of the monument.
