It is located in the Ville-Haute district and, along with the avenues Porte-Neuve, Monterey, and Marie-Thérèse, is one of the four main axes that were opened after the demolition of the fortress of Luxembourg in the west and north of the city. Like the other three streets, it has allowed for the construction and development of new residential areas and facilitated the city's growth.
