The church in Welscheid is a Catholic church that belongs to the parish of Dikrich Le Bon Pasteur, to the deanery center, and to the community of Bourscheid.
The patron saint of the church is Saint James, whose feast day is celebrated on July 25.
The church is located between Kirchewee and Waarkstrauss. Next to the church is the cemetery.
The former parish of Welscheid includes not only the parish church of Welscheid but also the chapel of Burden.
History
In 1874/75 the old church of Welscheid was demolished and reconstructed according to the plans of architect Antoine Hartmann. The church was consecrated on July 7, 1880, by Bishop Nicolas Adames.
Next to the church is a Lourdes grotto, which was completed in 1958. In 1995, the church received an organ built by the company Schumacher from Baelen near St. Vith.
