Bladel ) is a town in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The town is located in the Kempen region.
The name Bladel can be found as Bladele, Pladella and Bladella, but since 1280 the spelling is: Bladel. The ending -el comes from lo or lauha which means forest. The meaning of the prefix Leaf- is unknown, but it could refer to a proper name. The prefix " Leaf " could also be derived from bladra which means swelling, elevation of a spot. The name Pladella for a villa in the 2nd half of the 13th century could also indicate a dwelling on an elevation in the landscape.
