Simpelveld is located on the so-called Miljoenenlijntje, which was built at the time for the transport of coal from the mines and which nowadays only has a tourist function. During the summer months and on Sundays, a steam train of the South Limburg Steam Train Company runs on this line. At Simpelveld, another line branches off from this line in the direction of Bocholtz and the German town of Vetschau. A rail bus runs on this line. It originally extended to the city of Aachen, but that part has been out of use since 1992.
