More than 80,000 visitors attended the Holland Pop Festival in Kralingen near Rotterdam in June 1970. Love and peace, sex, and an overdose of drugs and rock-'n roll set the tone: hippiedom is celebrated en masse for three consecutive days to the sounds of Santana, the Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, and many others. 'Kralingen' was the first large open-air festival in the Netherlands.
