Description

A concept in the region.

In 1985, Theo Clevers started his own cafeteria, where he began selling ice cream. Not long after, the company transitioned to specialize only in ice cream made from the finest ingredients. Passion and craftsmanship have only grown over the years.

To master the craft of ice cream making, Theo Clevers took courses in basic ice cream kitchen, ice cream specialist, and Master Ice Cream Maker. Naturally, the entire Clevers team is always working on improving their skills in the field of ice cream, always keeping an eye on the latest trends.

Since the National Ice Test of the Algemeen Dagblad in 1995, things have gone quickly; the AD described Theo Clevers' vanilla ice cream as “divine,” strawberry ice cream as “fresh with a mild aroma,” and the general judgment was “The winner! A place worth driving a few kilometers for. Also hygienically perfect. This is how it should be!” Theo Clevers remained level-headed, “Of course, I do enjoy my share and revel in my first place.” The following year, IJssalon Clevers retained the title. In 2000, Theo Clevers earned the title of “Ice Salon of the Year 2000.” Now, years later, the list of honors is extensive, and IJssalon Clevers is one of the most awarded ice cream parlors in the Netherlands: from Ice Salon of the Year, Golden Ice Cup, the Golden Ice Scoop, Most Remarkable Hospitality Manager, and winner of the Taste of the Netherlands, and of course, the Coppa D'oro (the Golden Cup) won in December 2014 in Italy. Despite all the awards, it remains a challenge every day to make the best ice cream.

Surrounded by enthusiastic employees, things went very well in Grubbenvorst. Since 1985, IJssalon Clevers grew into a well-known name in the region; thus, a second ice salon was opened in 2000, IJssalon Clevers Arcen became a reality. In 2008, an ice cream parlor opened in the beautiful Overloon, and in 2013, IJssalon Clevers Plasmolen opened. A brand new concept was launched in 2015 in Roermond, the very first Clevers take away, a very luxurious trendy takeaway ice cream parlor. To continue providing quality and service, all ice salons are independent businesses, and Theo has fully focused on modern ice making.

Creating an ice cream experience for all our guests where quality, continuity, passion for ice cream, and good entrepreneurship are always recognizable for both our guests and our employees.
