De Onzalige Bossen is the name of a centuries-old forest area in the Dutch National Park Veluwezoom on the Veluwe, in the municipality Rheden.De origin of the name is not entirely clear. It is most likely derived from the Middle Dutch word "on-saelig" which means pitiful. The soil was poor in nutrients and therefore not very suitable for agriculture. The hilly forest area consists largely of oak forest, and is intersected by several beech avenues, including the straight Koningslaan. The oak bark from the Unholy Forests was used for a long time for tanning leather.
