On the Ginkelse Heath, there is a flock of approximately 160 sheep. Near the sheepfold, there is a designated area for flying kites. This area also includes a small airfield, which is used by two model aircraft clubs and for which a permit has been issued. On September 17, 1944, Allied airborne landings took place on the Ginkelse Heath as part of Operation Market Garden. The airborne landings are commemorated annually at the Airborne monument near the Verlengde Arnhemseweg, at the level of the sheepfold.
