Alverna is a Dutch village in the Gelderland municipality of Wijchen, located between Grave and Nijmegen. On January 1, 2016, Alverna had a population of 2,435. The village is named after the Alverna monastery, founded there in 1887, which in turn is named after La Verna, the mountain in Tuscany where Francis of Assisi is said to have received the stigmata on September 17, 1224. Alverna does not have its own postal code. In the postal code book, the village falls under the place name Wijchen.
