Castle ruins Born

As early as the year 1150 there is mention of a castle in Born, near the location of the current ruins. At the beginning of the 17th century, the castle fell into disrepair, after which the De Leerodt family started building a new castle in 1662. Unfortunately, the building, which was inhabited by the Barbou van Roosteren family at the time, was destroyed by a fatal fire in 1930. A beautiful animal park has been set up in the gardens surrounding the ruins, where visitors can admire many animal species.

The Born Castle Ruins are one of the wonder locations on the Route full of Wonder.
